TRUSSVILLE, Alabama -- The Bob Jones Patriots cut the Hewitt-Trussville lead down to three points with under three minutes to play in the game, but Elliott McElwain went for a 50-yard touchdown run to close out the victory for the Huskies as Hewitt-Trussville went on to win 59-49 over Bob Jones and to keep the Huskies undefeated in Class 7A, Region 4 play.

Hewitt-Trussville (7-0, 4-0) with 596 total yards of offense ran the ball at will all night long against the Bob Jones defense. Grayson Cash, Noah Igbinoghene and Elliott McElwain all rushed for over 100 yards in the game. Cash had 132 yards on 26 carries and three touchdowns with 60 yards on 2 receptions, Igbinoghene had 119 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown with 47 yards on 5 carries, and McElwain had 120 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns with 73 yards on six receptions. The Huskies had 375 of rushing offense.

"This was a big win for us tonight, give Bob Jones credit for playing a good football game," said Huskies Head coach Josh Floyd. "They have won the region the last few years but it gets us one step closer. I feel like we ran the ball pretty effectively tonight. Our boys up front played hard and played physical. The weight room is a big deal around here and we are getting stronger the last two years and it is paying off for us."

Bob Jones (5-2, 3-1) scored first in the game on a Brad Anderson 11-yard touchdown run for the Patriots. With 10:47 left in the first quarter, Bob Jones led 7-0. Sam Barnes long pass from Brady Polson setup the touchdown run by Anderson. 

The Huskies came right back when McElwain scored on a 13-yard touchdown run and Hewitt-Trussville tied the game at 7-7. Bob Jones took the lead again with 8:35 left in the first quarter when Anderson scored on a 1-yard touchdown run. Bob Jones took at 14-7 lead. An Anderson 65-yard jet sweep pass setup the short touchdown.

With :47 left in the first quarter, Connor Adair hit Logan Pitts for a 13-yard scoring play to tie the game up at 14-all.  Adair finished the game with 16-of-24 passing for 221 yards and a touchdown on the night. With :22 seconds left in the first quarter, Polson threw to Damontrez Brown on a 65-yard touchdown to give Bob Jones a 21-14 lead after the first quarter.

With 7:39 left in the second quarter, Cash scored on a 1-yard touchdown to tie the game at 21-21. With 2:11 left in the half, Cash scored again on a 1-yard touchdown run to give the Huskies their first lead in the game at 28-21. With :40 seconds to go in the half, Polson hit Anderson on a 14-yard touchdown pass play to tie the game at 28-28, but the Huskies were not done. With :02 seconds left in the half, the Huskies marched down the field for a 30-yard field goal and Hewitt-Trussville took a 31-28 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Huskies took the kickoff and marched down the field for another score when Igbinoghene scored on a 55-yard touchdown run. With the TD, Hewitt-Trussville took a 38-28 lead. With 6:36 left in the third quarter, Brown took a reverse handoff and scored on a 7-yard touchdown run for Bob Jones. With the score, the Patriots cut the lead to 38-35. "This was a battle to the start to the end," said Huskies running back Cash. "We thought we had the game, but they made a big interception and drove and scored late. It was a crazy game and a great battle. They put a lot of pressure on our offense when they would score after our score but I think we handled it good tonight."

Hewitt-Trussville drove down the field and scored when Cash fumbled at the Bob Jones 1-yard line but Christian Stewart jumped on the football for a Huskies touchdown. With 4:50 left in the third quarter, Hewitt-Trussville went up 45-35. With 10:40 left in the game, the Huskies went up 17 points, but Bob Jones scored on a Polson to Brown on a 75-yard touchdown play. With the TD, Hewitt-Trussville led 52-41.

Hewitt-Trussville drove again, but Milkyle Stewart picked off a Huskies pass and kept the Patriots in the game. With the interception, Stewart now has five interceptions on the season. Bob Jones drove down the field and Polson scored on a 2-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to Huskies lead to 52-49. Polson now has 51 career touchdowns in his three-year career. Polson had a huge game completing 20-of-34 passing for 464 yards and three touchdowns. Anderson had seven receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown, with 50 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Brown had 141 yards on 2 receptions and two touchdowns with 10 yards on two carries and a touchdown. Milkhi Stewart had 8 receptions for 126 yards. Bob Jones had 569 total yards of offense.

After the touchdown, Bob Jones tried an onside kick but the Huskies recovered and two plays later McElwain gets the touchdown to give the Huskies the final score of the game. "Both offenses scored a lot of points and both are very hard to defend," said Patriots Head coach Kevin Rose. "We did a lot of good things, but we have a lot of things we have to clean up."

Up next for Hewitt-Trussville is a road game at Sparkman, while Bob Jones will host Gadsden City next Friday night.
